Long-distance walking trails, Loch Ness
Our holiday accommodation is perfectly located for walking, cycling and boating holidays. With Loch Ness and the Caledonian Canal on our doorstep, and several way-marked trails nearby, you’ll be spoilt for choice. The Great Glen Way is a popular long-distance route, stretching 79 miles from Fort William to Inverness, passing along the northern shores of Loch Ness. Alternatively, the South Loch Ness Trail spans 28 miles, providing more remote and peaceful terrain on the opposite side of the loch. What’s more, the Great Glen Canoe Trail offers a magical boating route for canoeists and kayakers. Of course, you don’t have to complete the entire long-distance route, just choose a section to explore at your own pace. Unless, that is, you’re up for the challenge!
Shorter routes near Fort Augustus
If you’re looking for shorter walking trails, there are several in the Fort Augustus area. Allt na Criche is a short woodland walk with great Loch Ness views. A walk alongside the River Oich takes in forest paths and plenty of wildlife. The Jenkins Park circuit is another good option, with forest paths and waterfalls. If you wish to go further afield, there are dozens of walks scattered all around the edge of Loch Ness. Take a look at the WalkHighlands website for more ideas.
